The Silver President’s Award candidates went to Magoebaskloof (near Tzaneen) to complete the “Adventurous Journey” component of their award. There were 32 SAHETI high school pupils (and some external candidates – one of whom is a SAHETI alumni) who hiked almost 50 km over three days in the scenic forest. They endured hot days, cold nights, steep hills, limited ablution facilities, and often had to do without warm water and electricity – but enjoyed the journey nonetheless! The journey led to new friendships being made, and existing relationships strengthened.
Thank you to Chameleon Adventures for facilitating the journey, to Mrs Trish Frame who along with myself and the Chameleon Adventures’ guides accompanied the pupils on their journey, and to Mrs Joseina Ramgareeb for her role in organising the excursion.
