The SAHETI Matric Class of 2016 has produced results of which they can be proud. The 206 distinctions achieved represent 36% of the overall subject results (2.9 distinctions per candidate), with 92.9% of the group achieving one or more distinctions. In addition to the 100% pass rate and 99% degree pass, SAHETI this year boasts five full house distinction passes. Furthermore, 73% of SAHETI’s Matrics registered for more than the mandatory seven subjects: 49% of the group wrote eight subjects, 21% wrote nine subjects, while two pupils wrote ten subjects. The full house distinction pass candidates all wrote eight or nine subjects, achieving 90% in many of their subjects. In total there were 41 A+ marks, with an impressive 100% for Mathematics achieved by full house distinction candidate Gabriela Steenekamp and 99% for Mathematics by Savvas Panagiotou. The school’s top achiever, Michael Stephanou, not only achieved full house distinctions but ensured that each of those were within the A+ category.
The ethos at SAHETI is to motivate a positive sense of achievement and self-worth in their pupils; a belief that hard work and a positive mind set can yield excellence. And academics constitute a central fibre of this longstanding tradition. Executive Headmaster Warwick Taylor comments: "I congratulate all of our students for their hard work and dedication that is reflected by these superb results. It is not just the number of top achievers that have produced the results, but the entire Matric class of 2016 has performed well. I thank the teachers and parents for their support in ensuring the success of our Matrics, and I wish all of our students everything of the best as they embark on the next phase of their academic journey."
